Cellular Questions
Q. What is an SOT?
A. An SOT creates ISO's in-line with the vehicle wiring if it does not already
have them fitted, and enables you to do so without the need to change your
existing audio system. This type of installation is used when fitting a hands
free kit, navigation device, Bluetooth device etc, which comes with its own
ISO harness.
Q. What is a Relayed Loom
A. A relayed loom is utilised for the fitment
of any audio device with a mono output and mute trigger, most commonly a
hands free kit, in-line between your audio output device (stereo or amplifier)
enabling the existing audio source to be muted and your devices audio to
be relayed into the front door speakers.
Q. What is an Interface/Direct Input Loom
A. An Interface/Direct input loom takes any Audio device
with a mono output and mute trigger, most commonly a hands free kit, directly
into phone input positions already in place on the audio system in the vehicle.
Q. When would I need an adaptor?
A. An adaptor is required
when either a relayed or direct input loom was being fitted to a vehicle,
but not in conjunction with a Nokia kit. The adaptor range plug onto
the looms existing Nokia link and converts it to the connection required
for a particular installation e.g. Sony Ericsson Kit, Parrot Kit, Motorola
Kit etc.
Q. Which fuse should I use?
A. The looms come with 2
fuse ratings. The 5amp
fuse is for the Battery supply to the kit carried on the RED wire. The
2amp fuse is for the Ignition supply to the kit carried on the BLUE wire.
Q. What is the 2 pin socket on the 06-018 relay for?
A. This is an ancillary
mute position. If the particular
vehicle you have purchased this loom for also has a mute position at the
stereo that is practical to interface with, your loom will come with a two
pin connection bearing a pink wire with instructions on where and how to
make the connection. If your loom does not come with this pink wire,
it will have been deemed impractical or impossible for an ancillary mute
to be used and the two pin socket remains unused.
Q. Why must I connect an Ignition supply to the kit?
A. If the kit is to be used purely with a cradle, then
there is no need to pick up an ignition supply, however, if the kit is to
be used in Bluetooth mode, then there must be an activation/de-activation
of the kit to enable pairing and disconnection from the kit when entering
and leaving the vehicle.
Q. Do I have to mute the stereo as well as fit a loom?
A. Rarely. Most stereo systems run a standard 4
speaker output which are dealt with on the single relay of our looms. If
the vehicle comes as standard with more than 4, there will be more relays
on the loom. Connection of a mute is usually for aesthetic purposes,
or to enable the pause of CD play on those units with that capability.
Q. My vehicle is amplified, can I still fit a kit?
A. We cover a high majority of vehicles either pre or
post amplifier where possible, so OEM amplification does not mean a loom
can not be fitted, check out the vehicle database to see if your system is
covered.
Q. Why can I only hear my phone audio if the stereo is on?
A. On rare vehicles when a loom is fitted between the
stereo and the amplifier, the unit must be ON in order for the loom to have
access to the vehicle speakers.
